The most common issue that may arise in a boiler is if it stops heating up the water. If you are not getting hot water from the boiler, its probably due to a damaged airlock or diaphragm. If there are problems with the thermostat or if the motorised valve fails, its also going to prevent the boiler from working properly.

The bladder breaks or leaks and no longer maintains system pressure and needs to be replaced. The spring-loaded valve works in opening and releasing high pressure and air during extreme system pressure.

Air locks in low pressure hot and cold water Air locks affecting domestic hot water taps may be in the low pressure cold feed pipe to the hot water cylinder or in the low pressure hot water distribution pipes.
lexie@zozen.com > Get A Quote >Your air- lock seems to be in the boiler itself, the best way to remove this is to start and stop your boiler (heating side) and you should hear water gurgling through the system from the movement being forced through the central heating pump, and eventually it will get rid of the air-lock. Alternatively the feed to your heating system from the feed and expansion tank could be blocked which is a whole different problem.
lexie@zozen.com > Get A Quote >A cold or hot water airlock can be cause by the tank running dry or air bubbles with the hot water system from a heating system where the pipe work runs up and then back down causing the air to trap and not vent out as to what should be happening.

lexie@zozen.com > Get A Quote >Boilers will overheat when the hot water that should be sent to the central heating system, taps or a hot water cylinder is being prevented from circulating. This is normally due to a failed part, such as the pump, or a blockage in the system. Potential risks of an overheating boiler

Feeling around the pipe work the flow and return from the cylinder were pretty much cold, from the boiler hot water flow was hot and the return merely warm (central heating flow and return were hot and nearly hot as to be expected).
